Min forskning startede i ren matematik indenfor områderne differentialgeometri og global analyse. Jeg har senere bevæget mig ind i anvendt matematik, specielt geometrisk design. Jeg er specielt interesseret i at finde repræsentationer af kurver, flader og andre geometriske objekter som muliggør eksakte beregninger. En anden del af min forskning drejer sig om geometrisk effekter i kvantemekanik og mulige anvendelser inden for nanoteknologi.
Jeg er også interesseret i konkrete anvendelser af matematik, specielt geometri, i industrien. I den forbindelse var jeg i 1998 med til at starte European Study Group with Industri (ESGI) i Danmark og har siden da været med til at organisere disse årlige møder hvor matematikerer arbejder på problemer fra industrien.
