Professor Alan Tayler initiated the first Oxford Study Group with industry in 1963.
The study groups are coordinated by ECMI (the European Consortium for Mathematics in Industry). The name of our study group is the European Study Group with Industry, ESGI.
At a meeting in 1997, the ECMI Council decided that study groups should also be held outside the UK. The first one was ESGI32 in Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark.
